Jan Andersen and Poul Madsen joined forces to create the Normann Copenhagen brand in 1999. Their vision was to revolutionize the design industry. The first product, the Norm 69 lamp, was an instant success, and within the next five years, the collection expanded to 38 products. Then, as now, Normann Copenhagen collaborated with both renowned designers and emerging talents from around the world. After designing popular kitchen accessories, tableware, and home décor items, Normann has also introduced several significant furniture pieces since 2009.

n 2024, Normann Copenhagen launched the Mat chair collection, ingeniously utilizing renewable and sustainable materials such as hemp and seagrass. The Mat collection introduces something entirely new to the world of contract interiors, while also challenging traditional material production methods, environmental impact, and ecological life cycles. The Mat Chair won the “Green Idea of the Year” award at the 2024 Design Awards, a remarkable achievement for both design and sustainable material innovation.
