In 2019, Swedish designer Johan Runströmer grew frustrated with unsightly extension cords and set out to create a more aesthetically pleasing version. This led to the founding of the design studio Avolt and the launch of its first product—Square 1, a beautifully designed extension cord that enhances any space.
Avolt operates on the principle that electronic devices can be both beautiful, aesthetic, and functional. The brand brings Scandinavian design into homes, offices, and public spaces.
The electronics industry remains highly dependent on plastic. While Avolt acknowledges this reality, it strives to make every product as sustainable as possible. Square 1 is made from 20% recycled materials, and all packaging materials are environmentally friendly.
With an uncompromisingly minimalist approach to design and a strong focus on sustainability, Square 1 stands out for its innovative aesthetics. It has been honored with the Red Dot Design Award and the Svenska Design Priset.
